Features
Tap the nose, tap the tail
Point the camera at your fish, tap once on the nose and once on the tail. The distance between the two shows up on screen in centimetres. No reeling a tape back in, no wrangling it straight along the fish.
A bit out? Just drag it across
If a tap lands off the mark, drag the marker into place — no starting from scratch. A line runs between the two points, so you can see exactly what you measured in one look.
Measure it, release it
Hit Reset and you're clear for the next one. You're not pinning the fish flat on a brag mat, so it's out of the water for a whole lot less time.
Runs completely offline
Off the rocks, up the creek, on the breakwall or well offshore — no reception, no worries. No account, no sign-up, and nothing ever leaves your phone.
Not just for fish
Rods, tackle, the esky, boat fittings — if it's in front of you, you can measure it. Comes in handy well away from the water whenever you need a quick length.
Pay once, no ads
Buy it once and it's yours. No subscription, no extra purchases, no ads. And no data collection at all.
You've got it in the boat. Now how long is it?
Wet hands, a fish that won't sit still, a brag mat that's somewhere under the tackle box — measuring a fish is never as easy as it should be, and every second counts if it's going back.
FishRuler turns your iPhone into the measuring tool you've already got with you. Point the camera at your catch, tap the nose, tap the tail, and the length appears on screen in centimetres. That's the whole app.
HOW IT WORKS
- Tap two points, nose and tail, and read the distance between them
- Tapped a bit off? Drag either marker to fine-tune it without starting over
- A line is drawn between the two points so you can see exactly what was measured
- One tap on Reset and you're ready for the next fish
WHY ANGLERS LIKE IT
- Nothing to unroll, nothing to hold flat, nothing to lose over the side
- Quick enough to measure and release without a long handling time
- Works fully offline, so it's fine up the creek or off the beach with no reception
- No account, no sign-up, no data collected
- Handy beyond fish too: measure rods, eskies, boat fittings or anything else in front of you
Barra up north, bream and flathead in the estuaries, snapper offshore, or a whiting session off the sand — if it lies flat in front of the camera, you can measure it.
BEFORE YOU BUY - DEVICE REQUIREMENT
FishRuler measures using the LiDAR scanner, so it needs an iPhone that has one: iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max or a later Pro model. On a device without a LiDAR scanner the app will tell you it cannot measure. Please check your model before purchasing.
ABOUT ACCURACY AND SIZE LIMITS
Readings are real-world estimates produced by the device's depth sensor. Good light, a steady hand and a fish lying flat give the best results. Treat the number as a practical on-the-water measurement. This app is not a substitute for an approved measuring device: for legal size limits, tournament rules or record claims, always confirm with the measuring device the rules in your state require.
