Thanks for using HeadwindGo. This page answers common questions and shows you how to get in touch. If something isn't working or you're not sure how a feature works, start with the FAQ below.
FAQ
How does HeadwindGo use my location?
Your location is used for one thing only: to fetch the local wind conditions where you are. It's read on your device and sent to the weather service (Open-Meteo) as coarse coordinates to look up the current and upcoming wind. It is never used to identify or track you, and nothing about your rides or routes is sent.
Does it work offline?
Not fully. HeadwindGo needs an internet connection to fetch fresh wind data from Open-Meteo. Once the data is loaded you can read the dial and your settings, but to pull the latest wind for a new spot or a later hour you'll need a connection. It stays light and quick otherwise.
How do I set my direction of travel?
On the main screen you set the heading you're planning to ride or run. You can turn the dial to the bearing you'll be traveling, or tap the compass button to grab the direction you're currently facing. The dial then shows head, tail or crosswind for that heading.
Is it for cyclists, runners, or both?
Both. In Settings you can switch between cycling and running modes, and the wording and advice adapt to your typical speed. The core read on the wind, relative to the way you're heading, works the same for riding and running.
Where is my data stored?
Your settings and saved routes are stored on your device only. HeadwindGo has no account and doesn't upload your data. The only network use is fetching wind from Open-Meteo; nothing about your rides or routes is sent to us.
